Mixed Reaction as Serap Ranks Police Most Corrupt Institution

Diverse opinions have trailed the recent public survey of the Socio-economic Rights and Accountability  Project SERAP indicating the Nigerian police as the most corrupt institution. SERAP last week made the release ‘entitled corruption perception survey’, available to newsmen where it  identified the Nigerian Police Force, Power, Judiciary, Health and Education sector as corrupt public institutions in Nigeria. Olayanju Kolapo,Osunlana Olufunmi among other Nigerians in their chat with 4newsnaija expressed their opinion on the development. Breaking: Auto Crash Trapped Five In Osogbo

Five people have been reportedly involved in a two vehicles crash besides OSBC complex osogbo. Eye witnesses narrated that one of the victims of the accident is a baale (village head) of Boredun fia osogbo. The baale Nissan pick up vehicle with osun registration number BKN-309-XA was bashed in the front which caused a minor injury to the driver. Accord to eyewitnesses at the scene  the six-tyre Mercedes lorry with Lagos State registration number XN-274-BDG was coming from osogbo to ibokun when the other vehicle trying to overtake obstructed its way which made the lorry to maneuver it's way out of the road. They stressed that the Mercedes lorry convened four people while the other vehicle had a single passenger inside. Meanwhile, no death was recorded in the auto crash. However the state Ambulance service got to the scene in less than ten minutes and rushed the victims to the hospital for treatment.

Following non-presentation of certificate of return to the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said it will not reward "bad behavior" by presenting certificate of return to anyone harassing their staff. INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye, said  Today that the commission insists on its decision. He added that the commission maintained the stand after confirming the report of the returning officer for Imo West senatorial district election that he declared Governor Okorocha as the winner “under duress”. He stressed that, "we made it clear on why we didn't present any certificate of return to him (Okorocha)." Family lost four children to generator in Bayelsa

Four people have been reportedly killed by Generator fumes in bayelsa state.  The four children belong to the same parents, eye witness confirmed. Reports say the siblings were killed by generator fumes at their home in the Southern state. The tragic incident has left the parents and other family members in Lamentations as the corpses of the children have since been deposited in the mortuary.

Female University student expelled for hugging male friend

Egypts Al-Azhar university has expelled a female student after she appeared in a video hugging a male colleague, accusing her of undermining the school's reputation. The video, which went viral earlier this month, showed a young man carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling before her and then hugging her in what appeared to be a marriage proposal. However, the video was apparently not filmed at Al-Azhar -- a branch of Egypts highest Sunni Muslim authority -- but at another establishment, Mansoura University in the countrys north. Nevertheless the disciplinary council of the Al-Azhar University campus in Mansoura decided to expel the young girl definitively.  According to university spokesman Ahmed Zarie, he said hugging between unmarried men and women violates the values and principles of society. Governor convoy causes Auto crash in osogbo

Four cars have been reportedly involved in an Auto crash at olaiya junction, osogbo. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was cused by a convoy said to be that of the governor state of osun, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola. At the state scene of the incident, one of the victims whose Toyota Camry has been bashed both in front and at the back, lamented that the convoy coming from alekuwodo area shortcuted through the passway and forced the moving vehicles to stop abruptly which According to her led to the accident. Other vehicles involved are Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord as well as Nissan Almera. The condemned vehicle were later moved away by the owners so as to allow flow movement of traffic in the area.

Lagos Building Collapse: Buhari, Atiku mourn with Nigerians

Sequel to the Lagos building collapse yesterday, where students and staffs of Ohen nursery and primary school, itafaaji area of  Lagos state were victims, Nigeria president, Muhammadu Buhari has sympathize with the victims and Nigerians describing it as a saddened development. The president said this through his verified Twitter handle, @mbuhari.      He wrote “I’m extremely saddened by the news of the collapsed building in Itafaaji area of Lagos. Attention of Newsnaija was drawn to the incident by people around the river who claimed to notice the development yesterday. According to them, some students passing on the bridge of the river raised the alarm before passers by went under the bridge where they discovered the lifeless body of the man which is already swelling up. One of the eyewitness, Mrs olanike owolabi who spoke with our correspondent said some materials like sack containing iron waste and a pair of slippers were found beside the victim when they first got there. However,any material were not found with him when NewsNaija got to the scene. Mrs owolabi also called on all concerned agencies to take necessary actions to avert air pollution and other hazards in the area. The independent National Electoral Commission , inec, state of osun headquarters,has appreciated the people of the state for their usual peaceful conduct which led to success of the last Saturday house of assembly election in the state. The administrative secretary of inec, state of osun, Mr Surajudeen Junaid gave the commendation while addressing journalist yesterday at the state inec headquarters, osogbo. He stressed that with commitment of the commission, it achieved 97 percent success in the election where twenty five state constituency were completed and declared while a constituency (oriade) turned inconclusive as a result voting disruption in five polling units in the constituency.
