Upgrade Your Knowledge Or Risk Your Job -Oluwo Warns Civil Servants


The oluwo of iwo land, oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi Telu1 has charged civil servants in Nigeria to upgrade their knowledge and skills in their respective field so as to avoid been substituted in the nearest future.

Oba Akanbi, gave the advice at a secondary School quiz competition organized by Aenon foundation for public school students in osun west senatorial district which held in iwo.

He maintained that the bane of Nigeria underdevelopment is the conventional method of operation by Nigeria civil service workforce.

According to him, "most civil service works which requires technology are still being done manually since the workers can not operate computer and are not ready to give room for unemployed computer literates.

“It's embarrassing that only few people in Nigeria civil service fit the position they occupied.”
The monarch therefore called on government to revitalize the civil service sector by organizing seminar and workshop that will update their knowledge and skills to international standard.”

He emphasized that, “Nigeria should also be an inventor and not relying totally on foreign countries for all it's need.

“The only way this is achievable is upgrade of civil service or substituting them with fresh hands.

“ I cautioned government and Nigerians from misinterpretation of my message so as not to lead to sacking of civil servants but only those who fail to oblige to the upgrading arrangements can face the music.”
